In our ongoing consultation with the communities in the month of March we worked with four villages where we:

THE NAMAWANGA CBO COMMUNITY
- In all communities we were continuing with community consulting, training and planning in effort to help the communities coalesce around a common community agenda and generate local solutions for their community challenges.
- Helped the leaders to start working on ways of rallying their members to confront community problems together.
- Helped bring together pastors from different churches most of them having a joint meeting for the very first time. Our sessions with them were designed to help them understand the role of the Church in any community and develop ways for achieving greater impact.
Highlights of the month:
- We were in Namawanga community of Western Province in the week of 16th – 22nd of March and in Ahero, Maseno and Sigombre communities of Nyanza province in the week of 31st March – 3rd of April.
- A total of 6 young professionals Joined PA staff in the March initiatives.
- Other local young professionals participated by contributing US$ 82 to support these initiatives.
- In Namawanga we met 45 local leaders among them 10 pastors/church leaders, community group and opinion leaders.
- In Nyanza we met three different groups in three different areas. In total we met 15 pastors and church leaders and 20 community leaders in the different communities of Nyanza.
- The young businesses at the business incubator facilities are on-going. The effects of the January violence is still affecting their businesses though they are still working hard to achieve growth.
- We also did project appraisals of the Dairy and Poultry projects.

Way Forward
- The pastors in Namawanga agreed on a meeting on the 7th of April 2008 to nurture the new found unity and fellowship.
- PAK will do follow-up trainings with pastors to help them grow the new found momentum.
- Another meeting with all the community leaders is scheduled in the month of April to harmonize strategies for achieving community wide participation in poverty alleviation efforts.
- PAK shall organize a consultation and training meeting in the month of April in effort to find greater understanding on a community agenda going forward in this year.
- Work with communities where we have projects to do project expansion so as to achieve greater benefit
- Begin the process of re-organizing the business incubator for better performance
