NOVEMBER 2005 PROGRESS REPORT
Since returning to Kenya in April 2005 we spent the rest of the year pursuing the vision of PA in serving the local communities. We set out to pilot the following specific goals in line with our mission:
- Establish relationships with 4 communities with the purpose of educating and engaging them in community transformation.
- Recruit and build relationships with local young professional for the purpose of partnering with them to serve the communities.
- Start a mentorship program with children from disadvantaged communities to motivate them in Christian living, excellence in education and responsibility to social issues.
- Help young entrepreneurs in helping them set and pursue business goals.
In the past seven months the following has happened:
After over 4 years in the USA, I have resettled well in Kenya. I am enjoying working with the locals in empowering them to be committed to live for something greater - to love and serve the poor and week.

- Partnerships are growing!
- PA believes that Africa’s change will come when more of our educated people commit to using their talents, time and treasurers to serve their country.
- We held a vision casting forum with over 100 young professionals in attendance. The whole team was very excited about the vision of PA and their role in the vision.
So far we have made inroads to three villages. In all these villages the people are so open to learn and commit to building better communities for themselves.
In Namawanga village of western province, 20 families came together to start doing dairy farming to improve their living. They organized themselves into a community development association. |
We have worked with them to start off with 10 cows. More families have signed up since then and they are all working to see this project transform their lives and community. The project is designed to grow and be self sustaining. Everyone who gets a cow is committed to mentoring another family in dairy farming and giving their first heifer to that family.
In this community a group of youth have also come together to start poultry farming. As of now we have assisted them to establish a farm with over 100 chickens. They have plans to grow their project further this year.
In Rurii community in central province we have joined the villagers to build a local high school.
PA contributed US$ 1, 500 to purchase materials toward completion of classrooms.
- Children are being mentored!
- We have established relationship with a poor school in the arid eastern province of Kenya.
- This school has almost 300 elementary school children who come to school mainly to get food from the world food program. The community is so poor that they have only taken one person to college as far back as they can remember.
- Our team of local professionals are committed to mentoring and discipling these children throughout their primary school so they make good choices to build better lives.
Looking ahead to 2006
In 2006 we have goals to grow further. These are some of our goals
- Contribute more to strengthen the projects already established in the villages we have already made inroads
- Recruit and build partnership relationships with up to 1000 local professionals.
- Establish mentoring relations with children from five other poor schools.
- Make inroads to five new villages in Kenya
- Start a business incubator to serve local upcoming entrepreneurs
- To make inroad to Cameroon where we have been invited to start partnering with one community.
- To host many westerners who come here to support us.
We are delighted of your partnership. It is what makes this work happen the way it does.
