Prayer Letter by Merrell and Cheri McIlwain

Dear Friends,

Cheri and I are really enjoying our life near the Atlantic Ocean in beautiful Pawleys Island, SC. We’ve had many visitors, and have room for many more. Please come for a visit, or come again!

I wanted to let you know that one month from today we will be leaving to lead a mission trip to Kenya, and to request your prayers about that. Although I have been to Kenya several times, this trip is different in that: 1) I am heading it up, 2) we are taking our first teenager, 3) we are taking our first dentist who will provide dental work there, and 4) we have had some “bad press” from the US State Department about Kenya, and it seems to be intent on making sure we don’t go.

We desperately need your prayers for this trip. Not so much for safety but more for our 8 team members, our cohesion as a team, and the effectiveness of what we are planning to do there. In addition to the dental work, we will be providing ministry for children and training for teachers, and taking videos and photos for publicity. We will also be delivering 3 donated and much-needed computers. And finally, Dr. Fuder will be going with us to provide teaching and training for the future leaders of Africa! It will be a great trip.

Cheri and I don’t need any financial support at this time, but if you are led to do so, please make a donation directly to Possibilities Africa, PO Box 6445, Lincoln, Nebraska 68506.

Our tentative schedule is to be in the Tharaka Nithi, Narok and Kisii communities for 5 days and in Nairobi for 3 days, although I am almost sure that will change! We would greatly appreciate your prayers for this great endeavor as we seek to bring hope to the land of Kenya, as we learn from the Kenyans, and as we trust God for the results.

Blessings,

Merrell and Cheri
