A Revival and a New Church Plant

In Homabay County approximately 5hours drive South West of Nairobi. PA has been working in this community for over one year now. As part of their annual plans the group of pastors who we work with planned for an evangelism activity with a hope to plant a church in a neighboring region of Misambi. A team of 25 pastors from different denominations and some of their members shared the gospel with people at Kadingo and Misambi markets and held evening crusades over a 5 day period. As a result several persons committed their lives to Christ. Due to this impact, a church was planted in Misambi area and the first Sunday service at the new church plant was attended by 170 adults and 80 children.

The picture of transformation is in seeing the unity of pastors from different denominations working together to win souls for Christ and eventually planting a church. They plan to take the same approach and plant another church in another community in the near future and continue working to be the salt and light in their community.

Meanwhile in Busia County and specifically in Port Victoria which is on the shores of Lake Victoria, approximately 7 hour west of Nairobi lies numerous small villages and a town fondly referred to as ‘a Port” by the locals. Here a group of 13 pastors who work with PA and members of their congregations undertook a 3 day evangelistic outreach to 600 homes to win souls for Christ. The pastors took time to pray for the people culminating in an all-night prayer meeting. During the duration of the outreach, morning training sessions were held that focused on equipping the saints for the work of the ministry. Afternoon sessions were used for open air crusades to preach the gospel.

Over the three day period (15th-17th August, 2014) over 100 people gave their lives to Christ. The success of this ministry was attributed to the unity of the churches in the community. The pastors also attributed some of the success to the recent training that they received on Neighborhood mapping provided by missionaries from the USA including Dr. Fuder the author of Neighborhood mapping book. They said the training helped up to improve in our strategy in approaching people to minster to them. The work of discipling the converts will continue over the next days as they seek to grow a body of Christ in this community.

With God all things are possible!
